Aggravated Burglary. - Reduced to Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief

January 2021

A young lady was charged with Aggravated Burglary after being stopped by police in Ruston. Police officers found her in the passenger seat of her friend's vehicle several blocks from a residence where a burglary was reported earlier that same evening. Though the description of some of the items taken matched some of the items in the trunk of the vehicle, Mr. Lawrence pointed out law enforcement officers were not able to establish proof his client knew the origin of those items or that she was present when they were placed in the trunk of a vehicle she did not own or operate.

The result was a plea offer of Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief with all jail time suspended and 3 months of unsupervised probation.
