When considering a criminal defense attorney Lawrence Law Firm recommends you focus on three things: Communication, Case Results, and Clientele. 

Communication:

The Louisiana Supreme Court on Bar Admissions works very hard to ensure anyone with a Louisiana law license is "minimally competent" to serve as your attorney and it can be very difficult to gauge an attorney's knowledge or experience when you are usually wanting to hire them for those two traits. So, you might ask, "What should I look for when hiring an attorney?" We recommend finding an attorney who communicates with you well. 

When you call your lawyer...

Can you get him/her on the phone?

Do they communicate using your preferred medium? (Call, E-mail, Text)

Are they relatable and enjoyable (or at least tolerable) to speak with?

After you speak with them do you feel more comfortable and confident about your case than before you called?

At Lawrence Law Firm we presume each of our colleagues are knowledgeable and experienced in the areas of law they practice, but we can all agree, certain folks just get along better with certain folks. That is why if you meet with us and you don't think we are the best fit for you we will recommend another attorney who may be a better fit and even make the introduction!

Case Results:

When speaking with an attorney about representation, one should always ask, "have you handled many cases like mine before? And if so, how did those turn out?" 

Remember, no matter how intimidating an attorney (or their office) might be, YOU ARE THE ONE SHOPPING. If you don't like them or aren't impressed, you should get up and walk out. Even if there was a consultation fee, spending a couple hundred dollars to learn an attorney was not right for you is much better than spending thousands for a process and perhaps even a result you may dread.

Clientele:

By now hopefully, you have found a lawyer who communicates the way you like and has achieved your desired results in past cases. Finally, you should (if possible) speak with their past clients. Many attorneys will have Google Reviews or may even have recommendations on their website as we do.
