OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE INTOXICATED. - DISMISSED

October 2020

A client with the initials JK had attended a homecoming game at a local university of which he was an alum. He enjoyed drinks and intended to stay the night at a friend's house who lived within walking distance of the stadium. He and his friends enjoyed more drinks after the game and at a certain point, the owner of the house stated JK needed to leave. Surprised by this, JK tried to resolve the situation by stating he would sleep in his car, but insisted he had too much to drink to be able to drive responsibly. The homeowner agreed. Hours later the homeowner came out to JK's vehicle woke him up by knocking on the window and insisted JK leave his property. JK did as he was asked and pulled around the block so he could call a ride. After a concerned neighbor (who witnessed none of the prior events) saw JK standing by his car on the phone, they phoned the police. When the police arrived JK was standing next to his vehicle with his keys in his pocket. He admitted nothing but was booked on the charge of Driving Under the Influence.

He hired Mr. Lawrence shortly after he made bail and after the filing of two motions and a brief conversation with the prosecutor, all charges were dropped.
